Have you had a busy summer? I sure have. Here are some of the highlights from mine.
Philadelphia
My first trip this summer was to Philadelphia. For a week, I explored amazing new technology for the classroom at ISTE, the International Society for Technology Education. I got some great new ideas. I also explored using iPads, computers, robots, and SMART Boards. My personal favorite was the Google Booth, where I learned SO much. Summer is a great time to brush up on some new skills and to exercise your brain. I hope my students are exercising their brains!
How cool is this robot from the ISTE conference in Philadelphia? One of the highlights from my trip to Philadelphia was an evening with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies have a great team this year, and it was an amazing game against my favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Did you watch any baseball this summer?
We had great seats to watch the Boston Red Sox take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Safety first! You always need to be aware of your surroundings.Massachusetts
From Philadelphia, I drove north to Massachusetts. My family lives in Massachusetts, and I had a chance to spend ten days there. While the visit was great, it was also some work. I had to do some SCUBA diving in preparation for my trip to Antarctica. I'll talk more about getting ready to dive in Antarctica, but it does take some work to get ready. I couldn't have got the diving done without a lot of help from my Dad, my new friends Charlie and Wayne, and everyone at Divers' Market in Plymouth, MA. Thanks for all the help!
I had to stop and get the Milky Way ice cream. Transporting it back to Delaware was quite the challenge.Chicago
My last trip of the summer was to Chicago, Illinois. This was my first trip to Chicago and it was great! I was learning a lot of new skills for my classroom during the day and exploring the city of Chicago at night. I have a lot of fond memories of great dinners, walking along Michigan Avenue, exploring the Navy Pier, and going to Wrigley Field. How lucky am I? Two baseball games in one summer.
What a treat to attend a Cubs game at Wrigley Field!Chicago also reminded me of an important lesson. Check it out in my journal entry, "A Lesson from Chicago".
