What's All This Then?
The following video is meant to be a brief introduction to me and what I will be doing in the coming months. If you don't have time for a video the highlights are as follows:
My name is Eric Thuma and I am a physics teacher at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills, MI. I will be working on the Antarctic Neutron Monitors for Solar Study Expedition.
In early 2017 I will be traveling to Antartica with James Madsen, the principal researcher on the CosRay Neutron Monitors located at McMurdo Station. More on this later as I become educated on the project.
I am currently attending training in Fairbanks, Alaska. I will be posting a few journal entries this week to share my journey with you. Afterwards I hope to post more information about the project as I become more familiar with it. This will culminate with regular journal entries from the field during my deployment.
I would also like to extend my best wishes to PolarTREC alumnus Juan Botella who was scheduled for deployment in January of this year but was unable to go do to a health issue which he was good enough to journal about on the CosRAY Neutron Monitors Expedition page. Everyone here in Fairbanks wishes him a speedy recovery.
