So as a teacher, I'm now going to a kind of school. Yes, I've done my time and I've already gone to school for many, many years. But I'm back now, as an adult and a credentialed teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska, attending a training with twelve other teachers. We're here for seven days with our "teachers", PolarTREC project managers Kristin and Janet, and a collection of other talented and dedicated professionals here to help us with our expeditions.
Our project managers - Janet and KristinZeb is our talented computer tech person who likes to make hilarious training videos and beautiful WATER DROPS and Ronnie is our “web guy” who made the fancy PolarTREC site and helps us with thousands of tech questions as we prepare to use various computer programs to connect with you from remote places.
Our technology support - Zeb and RonnieWe're learning about outreach, which is all about finding ways to get classrooms and students to join us on our expedition through the internet. We're learning how to teach and communicate from the field by writing these journals in a specific way, by posting pictures and videos and cataloging them in certain way, and by setting up and hosting webinars that will be interesting for all of you. We're improving our technology skills so we can write and post pictures and videos online from far off places like Antarctica with sporadic Internet or satellite phones. We're also learning about the clothes and equipment we'll need.
