So after reading some of these journals and getting just a tiny taste of the adventure about to befall us, are you ready to meet some of us in person? Do you want to talk to us face-to-face before we head out to the most remote place in the world?
Well your chance is here!
Come to our special presentation, "Antarctica: Colder than Santa Cruz in the Summer!"
On Friday, August 27 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm we will be presenting pictures and videos, answering questions, and sharing information – live – in downtown Santa Cruz. Our event is similar to Movies in the Park or the Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In; we will be setting up a projector outside in the parking lot in downtown Santa Cruz, off Church Street between Cedar Street and Center Street to show you videos of Antarctica and our research there. We will be next to the downtown library and across the street from the old Sentinel Building.
Join us and learn about our expedition and Antarctica in downtown Santa Cruz.
Stacy and Tina will be there as well as other members of our expedition.
We will have a fun slide show that describes our expedition in more detail. We will show an amazing video of diving in Antarctica by Mary Lynn Price, an accomplished video journalist. You will also see a fascinting video of SCINI exploring the ocean under the ice by Henry Kaiser, producer and underwater cinemetographer of the Werner Herzog film Encounters at the End of the World). We will also have a special pre-release short by John Weller, a professional nature photographer, which explains with stunning pictures the significance of our research. Between movies, you will have a chance to ask us questions and learn more about how you can interact with us while we’re down in the coldest, windiest, driest, roundest, highest continent!
Bring your families, your blankets and beach chairs, yummy snacks, and questions. Though Antarctica really is colder than Santa Cruz in the Summer, this event, though it may be a little chilly as it is outside and it is in Santa Cruz, will be sizzling! You’ll learn about the coolest place on earth, see some of the most spectacular pictures and videos of this mind-blowing place, and interact with the lucky people that get to go down there just a few weeks later.
