When we went out for dinner tonight it was 9 degrees in Fairbanks. Earlier when I had talked to my wife, she reported that it was 74 degrees in Mooresville, North Carolina. As best as I can figure, that’s a 65 degree temperature difference. Another fact – McMurdo Station in Antarctica was 17 degrees today – warmer than Fairbanks. For everyone who has been telling me it’s too cold in Antarctica, I say that they need to check some of the areas in the Northern hemisphere.
Standing in the snow in FairbanksToday we worked mainly on journaling, both the mechanics of using what PolarTREC has built to let us make our entries and what makes a good entry. Our objective is to be able to tell our students what we’re doing and make it easy for them to keep up with our progress. Ronnie, the programmer for the PolarTREC and ARCUS projects has done a great job of making this web site so it provides all of you with some really great navigation and at the same time gives those of us writing the entries an easy-to-use program so we can get our entries in from either end of the Earth. Keep coming back to watch the progress and learn about the Wissard Project ( http://wissard.org/ ).
