If nothing changes, I leave for Antarctica in 1 month! It's been fast and furious this past few weeks. Suddenly I went from a range of departure dates to having a departure date out of Christchurch, New Zealand of November 5, 2012. That means leaving the U.S. around November 1. Between now and then I have to: Get my PQ (physical qualifications) notice that says I can go based on the VERY thorough physical exams I've been through; Finish the lesson plans for the substitute who will take over my classes for 6 weeks.; Pack; Complete two presentations I have to do before I leave - one on the Amazon Rainforest, the other on this project.; Clean the house at least once so my wife isn't stuck with all of it.
I'm not quite in panic mode, but I'm working up to it!
Now that I know this project is really going to happen, I'll be making more updates here in my journal - especially when I finish milestones out of my to-do list above. Until then, keep watching and make sure you check back often.
