Journal Entry

Time to get things together to send to Moss Landing so that they can be packed in a container that is Antarctica bound via ship. Rafael is none too pleased. I'd like to that think it's because he sees me packing yet again, but it's probably because I'm disturbing his afternoon nap.

Oh no! She's packing again!!Rafael can't bear the sight or the thought...

So...what does one send ahead in the way of clothing and other needed items?

Clothing Headed for The IceSome items will get there before me--even my dress shirt for Thanksgiving dinner!!

Lots of wool socks and liners, cargo pants, a pair of jeans, long johns in a variety of weights, couple of long sleeve shirts, t- shirts, warm up pants, sleepwear of sorts, a nice button down shirt for Thanksgiving dinner, towel, washcloth, couple of winter hats and most importantly, one of two Lady Vols basketball flags that will be proudly displayed!

Lady Vols Fans Know No LimitsWhat can I say, I'm a HUGE fan!

The big National Championships (8) flag is going with me! I bleed orange...which should show up nicely on the white ice and snow set off by the blue sky.

When I found out I was going, I began looking for biodegradable toiletries. Unlike here where we don't often think about what we put down our drains, that becomes a very important issue in Antarctica. My soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste are all biodegradable. No laundry detergent needed as that is provided.

What's in my Antarctic medcine cabinet?See anything unusual?

Because Antarctica is the driest place on earth with zero percent humidity, I thought it wise to also send saline spray on ahead so that my sinuses might at least be happier. Stacy suggested that we also send some special snacks down. Below are some of my favorites, and can I say that I'm thrilled that Clif is once again make their Mojo bars. It's been over a year. Remember that peanut butter plant in Georgia that had "issues"?

I'm sorry to say that the Gummi Bears did not make the final cut due to their weight. It was going to cost me $5.00 more to send a 1 lb. package. So, I did what anyone would do. I ate every single one...all 3 lbs. worth...and saved myself $15.00 in shipping charges! My recent rather extensive blood work to get this far says I can do that every now and then.

At long last everything was packed in, and I was off to the Post Office and UPS! Tori was ecstatic to finally have "her" queen size bed back so that she could get her beauty rest.

Really? You're not kidding?Rafael can scarcely believe that everything is going but me! Tori reclaims her spotNow that everything is packed and sent, Tori takes her rightful place for her afternoon beauty nap
