Journal Entry

Another busy weekend has come and gone, and even though it was a three day weekend, it sure didn't feel like it. I guess that's because I'm starting to feel the crunch of leaving in a little over two weeks. There's still so much to do! But, I did find a bit of time to enjoy this past Saturday by viewing our fall colors from...shall we say...a different perspective.

I love fall!Love the colors, smells and crispness in the air

The afternoon started with a baby shower for one of my co-teachers. Beth and her husband are expecting their first child around the beginning of December, and while I'm sorry that I won't be here for the birth, I am expecting pictures and a play-by-play description of the blessed event!

After having excused myself from the baby shower, I zipped over to Wings of Eagles Discovery Center to get ready for my ride in a 1942 Stearman, a PT-17. The Stearman, made by Boeing, was a training biplane used in WWII, and the aircraft I was about to board is truly one sweet plane! It is in pristine condition! And yes, it has open cockpits. That's part of the thrill-for me anyways.

Ready For Take Off!Jim and I getting ready to taxi to our runway Almost Full! The fuel gage on the Stearman sits in front of the first cockpit My Trusty PilotJust checking out the mirror to see what Jim is up to back there

On the way up towards Seneca Lake and Watkins Glen, Jim did some maneuvers over the open countryside. WHAT A RIP!!!! Once I realized that I had nothing to hang on to, I remembered that I had my video camera and began to take footage of the fun! Check out my very first iMovie which appears at the end of this journal entry!

And now, sit back and enjoy a short movie of my flight. **Special thanks go out to Bob Bone and Apple for allowing me the use of a Macbook for the next several weeks. **

I'm looking forward to making more movies about the land way, WAY down under! And, it's all so easy on a Mac!! Even I can do it, proving once again that you **can **teach an old dog new tricks!!
