Two members of the SCINI team, Nick and Bryan, are both "undergraduates" - that means they go to college but haven't completed getting their degrees yet. There are no colleges, universities or even towns in Antarctica.
Bryan is taking a leave from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Nick will be gathering data for his senior thesis for California State University Monterey Bay while he is in Antarctica.
Take the quizzes below to learn more about Nick and Bryan. Two of the statements are TRUE and one is FALSE. Can you guess which one is false? The answers will be at the bottom of this journal entry - so don't peek ahead!
Bryan (center) working with Bob (left) and Marcus and BLee (right) on SCINI electronics at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.
Which is FALSE about Bryan:
Bryan once caught a lobster with his bare hands while SCUBA diving.
Bryan once traveled over 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers) without a single flight.
Bryan used to be an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and he drove an ambulance.
And now for Nick!
PHOTO SOON!
Nick was recently caught in an intense dust storm that had 40 mph winds and he could not see 2 feet in front of himself.
Nick participated in the Running of the Bulls last year in Spain. During his run he jumped on one of the bulls and rode it around town.
Nick has broken his right arm two times.
Okay - have you got your guesses? Then you can check below:
Bryan Newbold

TRUE: Bryan likes volunteer service and he highly recommends it as a first job or short term career.
Nicholas Huerta
TRUE: Nick was in a big dust storm at the Burning Man festival in Nevada and it was scary!
FALSE: Even someone going to Antarctica isn't crazy enough to jump on a bull.
TRUE: Nick has broken his right arm two times! He is a skateboarder and a snowboarder, but maybe he broke his arm doing dishes - you will have to ask him!
Next, we will meet the scientists!
