*It’s just outside of Heaven, it’s a good country mile

Well there's laughing and singing and how do you dos There's dancing and simple songs sweets And when the town cries we all cry together and when the sky's darm we all sleep

So take a left turn on old 29 and stay on that a good while you'll see a white picket fence and this house on the hill and from there you can see the lights it's just outside of heaven it's a good country mile

Thanks Kevn Kinney – your lyrics rock!*

Sundays are super nice. It is a time to feel a little more relaxed! It is a day off. It is time for family (I’m glad I have

KissKiss

) and friends. It is time for the spirit to be quietly stirred.

Rob and I went to Pepe’s for a late breakfast. We met Joe and I was reminded that I needed to visit his museum. I had read a lot about Joe on Rob Wilder’s **(PolarTREC Teacher 2007) journal. Joe’s t-shirt said " If all my friends decided to jump off of a bridge, I would have to consider it”** – he said he really would consider it, but thankfully there is only one bridge in Barrow and it is very high!

Rob also got to meet** Fran** the owner of Pepe’s and he got his Arctic Circle Club certificate and since I had already signed up to get the free annual calendar we signed up my in-laws for it… so expect it Bob and Sue!

We toured town and hit the grocery store, just so Rob could see the prices and the interesting items for sale in there, like the snow machine! We also went to the Heritage Center for a little while.

While touring town or along the beach road, it is very likely that you will see a water truck. It sprays water on the road to keep all of the loose dirt from blowing all over the place. I bet it reduces erosion too!

Water TruckThis is a comon sight around the roads of Barrow. Why? The roads are very dry and dusty. When a car drives by or the wind is howling it sends the dirt into a flurry- unless the roads are wet.

I bought a really fun toy that I am sure my students will enjoy and be challenged by. It is called a YoYo **– I know what you are thinking but get that idea out of your head – trust me it isn’t what you think. It is **hand made with polar bear and seal skin – I know not what you would anticipate from me, but I do believe 150% in the way these people live.

YoYoHand made YoYo. Fun and challenging. I cannot wait until I can actually do it. I know many kids who will get a kick out of these!

**YOGA **

Funny, when I was **writing my application for PolarTrec **I had mentioned that I am a certified yoga instructor and that I could teach classes while at "camp". I am not sure that I really thought I would have a chance to do this, but I have taught twice, this past class I had 10 great students. Thanks for showing up and giving me the chance to share… don’t forget to do your Karma Yoga and "sitting still in the tundra" homework.

Sunday YogaTeaching Yoga to researchers is an honor and fun.

We went to Joe's Museum later that night. I will tell you about Joe's later! I will do a podcast with Joe too! - What a hoot!
