The beauty in the ice down here is striking. The pictures here cannot begin to capture this but I have picked out some of my favorite pictures I took this morning.

A trail of iceThere are huge stretches of ice trails within the waters down here

The difference in colors, the varying shades of blue are a result of how tightly the ice and snow is compressed.

A very small ice bergThe blue streaks show the layers of compressed ice and snow

I didn't alter the color in any of these.

Antarctic ice on a foggy morningThis is one of my favorites. I did not alter the color. The gray, foggy morning allowed for the blue ice to stand out.

It was a very foggy morning and there is a haze hanging around us.

A close upA close up of the trail of ice we were sailing through

It really made the blue stand out. Enjoy these shots...more on are its way.

Blue streaks in the glacierThe blue streaks in this glacier are showing even though it was a dark, gray morning. Seals basking on a beautiful dayThese seals are enjoying the beautiful sunny day as much as we were. As we cruised through the Gerlache Straits we saw seals and penguins hanging out on the ice Striated ice in AntarcticaThe striping on this berg was unbelievably pretty. As we saw streaks of bright blue in the bergs and on the glaciers it almost looked like something had been dripped down the side, like a sno-cone.
