Ninja was chosen this week because she is such a sweetheart! Also because I get to bring her back with me for our school! She is three years old and full of energy, but in very nice and calm way. Ninja is one of those dogs who will look and you and really listen to what you’re saying. It’s like she is trying to understand what it is you want so that she can do it for you. She has very pretty brown eyes and some nice markings that make it easy to tell her apart from the other dogs. Her mother is Twerp, and her father is Onyx. Twerp has short hair, but Ninja got her fur from her dad, just like her brother Taxi and sister Daphne.

Mr. Wood with NinjaNinja is the dog of the week because she is a great all-round dog.

Mike, Corine, and her three grown children return today from a four day dog sled trip they took to the west of the cabin. Ninja was one of the dogs on that trip. On the first day they traveled thirty miles through some pretty deep snow. After the dogs took a good rest overnight, they covered another twenty miles the next day making it all the way into Denali National Park. The weather has been really nice over the last several days, so the dogs and people both enjoyed the trip very much.

Ninja is full of energyNinja loves to play and will come to you when you call. She is full of friendly energy!

Corine began telling us stories about Ninja and how smart she was and what a good worker she is. In fact, earlier this season, Ninja was doing such a good job that Corine wanted to make her a lead dog. So Ninja was put in the front of the team beside another dog. Everything began great and Ninja performed as well as was hoped. But by the end of that first trip Corine noticed that Ninja was having a problem. She was having to go to the bathroom too much! You need to understand that sled dogs learn how to do this right away, because the team does not stop every time a dog needs to go #2. It can be a bit tricky anyway, but when you are the lead, and need to slow down often, it throws everyone else off. Plus Ninja is one of the larger dogs in the yard, so when she needs to slow down, it drags the dog beside her a bunch. Most dogs only need to go through this once or twice a day as they are running. Ninja however was having to do this five or more times a day! This happened on the following trip with Ninja as lead, and so Corine decided that maybe Ninja was not the right material for a lead dog.

Ninja has beautiful brown eyes. Ninja is a very calm dog with beautiful brown eyes.

Ninja is still a good worker and very loveable. She also seems to be content to being one of the regular dogs in the team. She is Elizabeth's favorite, and I think she is a pretty cool dog!

APRIL FOOL'S! I can't bring Ninja home with me. She belongs here with her dog family.
