Journal Entry
Morning sun on the east flank of Mt. Healy south of the research site.
It's my turn in the sled. We're headed out to the CiPEHR research site about 3 miles from the field cabin. Elizabeth is driving, that's John on the back of the snowmachine.

The research site is not enclosed. This is one of many signs informing and cautioning people who may come on the site to be careful not to disturb the experiments. Elizabeth and John giving me a tutorial on collecting data from the warming tundra. This is part of the University of Florida's experiment. (More to follow on this experiment.) Here I am at a part of the CiPEHR (Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Project) trying to understand the different parts of this experiment. That fence in the background allows the snow to build up thus insulating and warming the soil beneath. Elizabeth and John replacing a battery powering the Force Diffusion Sensors (more on these in the future) at the CiPEHR research site.
