Canada Celebrates its 149th birthday today.

In the little town of Field, British Columbia this means a community pancake breakfast with donations given to the ambulance service. A "parade" then followed, which was really more of a water fight between the town's firefighters and the children, who had invited their friends to come from all through the valley, dozens came for the opportunity to pelt the firefighters and in turn get soaked with the fire hose. I heard that the town children filled over 5,000 water ballons! The "parade" was followed by a community BBQ, down at the Field pond.

My daughter is one of the town's firefighters and rides atop the truck, prey to all the swarming children. So far, she has managed to keep from being pummeled off the truck!
