Often you can walk miles (today, we walked 19!) and not see the animals that you wished to spot. But many signs can help you know that the animals passed by. A good book on scat and footprints can help decode who might be sharing the land.

Today, we found many bird and mammal prints and have been able to claim that caribou trot along the same routes as we. So although today we "saw" no caribou, we were excited and hopeful that tomorrow we may.
