When we last saw our CiPEHR project team they were well on their way to having the three study sites up and running. But alas, while the Sites A and C were being cooperative and experiencing only minor checks and adjustments, stubborn B Site was defying all reason and logic. The compressor had come around and seemed to be doing its job. Was the data logger up to its old tricks, or had it found a new and more tormenting method of causing problems? Will Dr. Natali be able to confront the data logger and make it talk? Will the data get back on track before the static chambers are released? Will Site B be persuaded to cooperate and play nice like the others? Stay tuned for these answers and more as the experiment continues!
The Brain of each system can look pretty complicated if there is something wrong!Dr. Natali is working through Site B and getting closer to the problem. As she worked on the B system today Christian and I went to work on building additional chambers and bases, which will be put in to service this season. The bases are set in to the ground first and then the chambers can rest on top of them to make up each plot.
Mr. Wood is building bases for the new chambers that will be installed this season. Christian built the new chambers back at the cabinAs I was working on the bases, out at the site, I was recalling why I love field science so much. You never know what is going to happen! One day can go perfect, and the next day nothing is right. But you work through it and continue on with the plan, and along the way you end up learning a lot!
It was a beautiful day to be working on the tundra.P.S.- HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY TO NATALIE! ( my oldest daughter)
Happy 20th Birthday Natalie!
