The flash.......
Unbeknownst to me in the early hours of the morning of our last day, there was a magnetic disturbance in the atmosphere known as an Aurora or an Aurora Borealis in this part of the world. This phenomenon also occurs in the south and is called Aurora Australis. Thanks to PolarTREC alumni Mike League, I have a few photos to post. Don't you wish you were there to see it? Homeward bound
We leave Fairbanks, Alaska at 10:27 pm to arrive back in Corpus Christi, Texas at 3:30 pm the following day.
Our last day in Alaska!
What? No luggage! We arrived home without our luggage....ugh....which means no washing clothes tonight......sweet!
My luggage found its way home the following day.
My bag is back!
Mystery photos
The white frosty tube was a frozen flex tube used to bring fresh air into the permafrost tunnel. See the picture below to view the flex tube entering into the building through the outside wall and notice how the walls of the building a frozen.

The photos that look like two metal curling brushes are part of a cooling system to maintain the permafrost.
