Strange Fact of the Day

The Kangerlussuaq Airport is the largest airport in Greenland and can handle large commercial airliners. Sometimes if a flight is especially big the road will be closed for a couple of minutes so that the airplane can back up more, because the airport is backed up next to the road. It is located inland so there is less of a chance of fog and wind. Greenland even has its own airline called Air Greenland. Historically this airport is very interesting. During WWII the US Military built the airport as an air base. Eventually the US gave it to Greenland. There is a strong chance that the airport may be moved to Nuuk, which I feel could be a problem for the economy of Kanger, because the tourism will decrease and so many jobs are provided through the airport.
