Hello from Missouri.
I know many of you are following the journals of the current expeditions. Don't you just love the charismatic mega fauna (polar bears)?!?!
If you haven't been reading Christina Galvin's journals from the ship, Polar Sea, you should. They are wonderfully informative, and the pictures are fantastic.
I am excitedly looking forward to having you along with me as well.
As MY official polar trekkers I want to involve you in the preparations too.
Your job is to make a flag to represent your class or school. The flags I collect will make their way to Antarctica in my suitcase and proudly fly over my tent while I am in Antarctica. Upon my return I'll mail your flag back to you as a memento of your role on the expedition.
The directions for making the flag are pretty simple.
1. Size approximately 11x14
2. Make the flag out of a piece of fabric.
Write your name and address on the corner of the flag.
4. Send a self-addressed envelope with the flag (so I can mail it back to you in January).
Mail the flag and the self-addressed envelope to:
Gary Wesche
St. Regis School
8941 James A. Reed Rd
Kansas City, MO 64138
A picture of your flag in Antarctica will be posted in my gallery on this web site upon my return in January.
OK Trekkers. You have your directions. I want you to be PQed (polar qualified) for our journey. Send those flags to me by November 10th so they find their way into my bags.
Due to my limited space I cannot take flags for individuals, but I will take flags representing schools, classes, or other groups.
Get creative Trekkers!!! Gary
