A hike up Canfield Mountain to test the satellite phone and begin the first Ask the Team contest!

Here we are making the call to the PolarTREC voicemail using the back-up satellite phone on Canfield Mountain. My two favorite hiking buddies! The view from Canfield Mountain looking out across the Rathdrum Prairie towards Coeur d'Alene Lake.  This valley was carved out by a unique glacial process.  I am excited to see who figures it out first... Here I am with the awesome staff at Tri-State Outfitters in Coeur d'Alene.  Thank you Tri-State for your kind donation, sponsorship, and support of this opportunity to enhance science education in our local schools! Here is a small collection of the outerwear and gear I am bringing with to Mulajokull.  Pay close attention to my choices, and be thinking about what this gear indicates about the summer climate I will encounter in Iceland this summer.  Another contest question about this is coming in the next journal! Here is my home away from home while in Iceland.  My daughter, Shantaya, and I spent the night in it as a special Father's Day prize a few weeks back.
