Journal Entry

My Trip to Alaska

Today is my second full day here in Alaska at the PolarTREC orientation. I've learned a lot about the journaling interface and I look forward to "playing with" this more.

I enjoyed visiting with Robbie Score and discussing the logistics of our expedition in July. Her numerous years on the ice at both poles is invaluable. Plus she is just so interesting to listen to. Her background as the "finder" of ALH84001 and the stories she related to us are fascinating. I could spend hours hearing about her exploits on the ice. I look forward to working with her again in July.

I just heard back from the Captain of the Oden, Mattias Peterson. He is finally headed home after a successful icebreaking expedition in McMurdo Sound.

Here are a few additional pictures from my trip to Antarctica. I can't wait to go back there, I hope I will have that honor someday very soon.
