Journal Entry
Part of my PolarTREC time has been spent at the Tuzzy Consortium Library where I am researching myths and legends for references to natural hazards, disasters, and risk. This book in particular is all about Legends of the a northern Eskimo and it is full of disaster references. Here are just two example I have found in which earthquakes are referenced. Oral history and local traditional knowledge are an important part of the Arctic culture and heritage. I personally find geomythology fascinating and I have a lab lesson on this in my disasters class.
