Fresh Fruit from Nelson
After a night in Nelson, we made our way west towards Abel Tasman National Park. We couldn’t help but stop and get some fresh fruit at one of the small stands along the way.
Fresh cherries, blackberries, and apricots, oh my!The blackberries melt in your mouth, the apricots are perfectly ripe, and the cherries are tart and sweet at the same time. Perfection.
Abel Tasman
Wow. What a place! With winding trails that snake along the coast of Tasman Bay, everywhere you look is beautiful in Abel Tasman National Park. Let me show you:
Our first view of Abel Tasman National park. A muddy area of Abel Tasman. By the time we walked back this way a few hours later, the tide was starting to come in and most of this area was underwater. A beautiful beach looking out over Tasman Bay. A creek along the Tinline Trail. We walked along this trail deep into the forest for about an hour. A tunnel of trees along the main Nature Trail.Between the tunnel of trees and the loud buzz of insects above, I just kept thinking I was walking through an exhibit at the zoo or the Botanic Gardens. But THIS is the real thing. THIS is what they’re trying to emulate!
On our way back, we took a quick dunk in the ocean. Although surprisingly warm water, the wind hit pretty hard when we got out. Burr!
As many of you know, I like to take handstand pictures wherever I go. It's the gymnast in me coming out. While this is a pretty epic handstand picture, I can't wait to take the best one of all - at the South Pole. Travis also enjoys handstand pictures - he's trying to top mine.House Truck in Montueka
We’re staying the night right outside Montueka in our most unique bnb yet – a House Truck. It’s a handcrafted tiny house that sits on top of an old truck!
Me and Travis outside the House Truck, our bnb for the night. Everything you could need inside the House Truck.Complete with a small kitchen, dining table, and loft bed (that you climb through the kitchen to get to), this place is super cozy.
Looking out from the Truck House at the New Zealand Countryside. What a view!As I write this, I’m sitting on a bench under an apple tree just outside our House Truck. I can hear the birds chirping, water rushing in the nearby river, and (of course) sheep in the distance. Fresh air and the smell of the New Zealand countryside fill me. So, I’ll sip my tea, watch the clouds roll over the mountains, and try to stretch out this moment forever…
