Hi Ms. Anderson! We have a few questions from Ms. Miller's IB Physics Pd. 2 class here in Arlington, VA:
1) Have you detected any high-energy neutrinos since you've been there?
2) What do you eat at the South Pole? Do you eat ice cream? If you could have a 5-course meal, what could it be?

1) Does anyone in Antarctica ever eat penguin or penguin eggs?
2) We saw you went golfing in the snow. What other sports do people play there?
3) Which way does the toilet flush at the South Pole? Does it really go the other way?

Hello Ms. Miller's class! What interesting questions you have come up with! Penguins are protected by the U.S. Antarctic Treaty in Antarctica. You are not allowed to touch or disturb a penguin anywhere on the continent. Golfing was a lot of fun, possibly one of my favorite experiences here! There is also a rock wall, a gymnasium where people play basketball, soccer, hockey, volleyball, or teach dance lessons, and there is also a disc golf course out behind the station. We also have a sauna to relax in after a hard day of work and some time in the work out room. I love the question about our toilets, but no, our toilet flushes the same way that yours would at home. The Coriolis effect only acts on large bodies of water in the southern hemisphere, so the direction of water flow in the South Pole toilets are dependent on the direction of flow from the toilet manufacturers.
