I knew the trip to the South Pole would be a long one. Even if I could fly straight here, it would still be about 7,000 miles. My scheduled flights didn't take me straight here though so I ended up flying for 14,139 miles staring in Spartanburg, SC and ending up at South Pole Station. (It took me about 5 days to get here!) It can be hard to imagine what it's like to travel that far - I know I had no idea what it would be like before I left. My husband suggested I take a picture every hour along my trip and make a video out of them when I got here. So that's what I did. The video below shows one photo each for one second. Each photo represents one hour of travel time. That means, if you see 8 pictures in a row of the inside of an airplane then I was on that airplane for 8 hours!
