I am a big fan of stop-motion animation, and wanted to try out a piece of software so I could have students use it for projects. SAM Animation is free (available on the web), simple to use, and uses your computer's web cam (or a USB web cam). I plan to offer it as an option for some student projects this upcoming year.

Anyway, I wanted to test it out, figure out some tricks and push the limits of the software... so I put together a stop-motion animation to help explain some of the science behind the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome! check it out, and feel free to share it and use it in your class...
