Journal Entry

When I found out that I was chosen to go to Antarctica for JASE today, I was very excited, to say the least. I can still feel my heart pounding. I’m really looking forward to travelling to the White Continent, doing science, and meeting the Chilean teams. After spending seven years in the classroom learning Spanish, I am excited to travel to a Spanish-speaking country for the first time. South America and Antarctica will be the fourth and fifth continents respectively that I have travelled to, which means that there is a good chance that I will visit all seven in my lifetime! Hailing from Wisconsin and having spent the past winter semester (or as they call it there, spring) in the Northwoods, I am ready and excited to experience the Antarctic climate as well as the ecosystem and the clear night sky.
