One of the best parts of JSEP is getting to know students and teachers from Denmark and Greenland.
Flag of DenmarkIn this journal, we introduce the three students from Rosborg Gymnasium who will be participating in both the Field School and Science Education Week.
Josefine Madsen is one of the three student from Denmark participating in JSEP 2013.Hello my name is Josefine Vad Birkholm Madsen. I am 17 years old and live out on the countryside near Billund in Denmark. There I live with my mother, father, sister and my twin brother. My family means a lot to me because no matter what, they are always there for me.
I study at Rosborg High School on the geoscience line which I am very enthusiastic about. I chose the geoscience line because I find it very interesting, and therefore I am looking so much forward to this trip to Greenland.
In my spare time I play handball. I have played it since I was a little kid. The thing I love the most about handball is the fact that you play as a team and you have to co-operate with each other. That is also a thing I find very useful in my daily work.
I am looking forward to seeing you all.
Marie-Louise Thomsen is one of the three students from Denmark participating in JSEP 2013.My name is Marie-Louise Ryom Thomsen, and I’m sixteen years old. My parents were divorced when I only was two years old, so today I live together with my mother and stepfather in Bredballe. In the weekends I visit my father as often as I can. I have four siblings, one brother and three sisters.
Last summer I began at Rosborg gymnasium. That’s where I now study mathematics, chemistry and geo-science. Since I was a little girl I’ve been interested in many of the scientific wonders of the world, and particularly the mysteries of the universe are a huge interest for me. A couple of months ago I invested in a Meade ETX 125 telescope.
When I’m not studying r attending at school, I spend my leisure time painting and drawing. The techniques of drawing have I been taught by an artist named Janik Brosh. On a hectic day I use drawing as a respite to relax.
I’m looking forward to meet the other students at the summer school, and have a memorable experience.
Thomas Lykkegaard is the third student from Denmark participating in JSEP 2013.My name is Thomas Lykkegaard, and I am from Denmark.
I study at Rosborg Gymnasium (High School) where we take classes in Geoscience. I love nature and the science in nature. In my spare time I do gymnastics and play football, and also I do some other sports like running and cycling. Besides all the sports I like being with my friends and in the weekends I like going to bars and clubs.
I do not have so much spare time because I live 35 km from the gymnasium so I use a lot of time on transport by bus. I live in Juelsminde which is a small town at the east coast of Jutland. It is a lovely town during the summer because of the tourists and the beaches, but in the winter it is kind of boring. Last year I went to “Efterskole” which is a kind of boarding school where you sleep, eat and study. We also did a lot of sports at the school.
