Blustery Weather

Weather in FairbanksOh the weather outside is frightful!

While sitting in the conference room I kept glancing outside and all I could see where whirlwinds of snow! I was amazed to learn that Fairbanks had only received 25 inches of snow so far this year! What?!?!? Cleveland has gotten 25 inches of snow in one weekend this year! I thought for sure cities in Alaska would get at least twice as much snow as cities in Ohio. So interesting and the snow here is a “dry” snow. Kind of like how Arizona has a “dry” heat (which it’s not, trust me!), the snow here is described as dry because the flakes really don’t stick together. It’s like the texture of glitter; you can throw a handful up in the air and watch it rain down on you. The snow here is like that handful of glitter.

Thai Food in Alaska?!?

Tonight we went to eat at a Thai place. As I have mentioned before, I am not a diverse food eater, so this was an interesting meal. I had fried rice with pineapples and chicken. It was delicious! While we were sitting there eating I noticed a fish tank with this weird looking fish swimming around. When we left I had to get a closer look at the fish.

Pug Fish???I have never seen a fish with a mane like this one. Is it a new species of fish?!?!

It was like a goldfish with growths around its mouth. It kind of looked like a lion’s mane. But on the other hand the fish reminded me of a little pug dog wit big bulging eyes and a fat, round face. I want a fish that looks exactly like this fish!

Brrrrrrr!!!!

When I returned from dinner my room had been turned down and there was a note on the bed. The note on the bed was a notification/warning about the weather tomorrow. The ominous warning said it was going to be -2 for the high and -22 for the low (without wind chill factored into that temperature)!! Are you serious?!?!?!? What is the coldest temperature you have ever experienced?
