Journal Entry

We're out here studying the microbes that live on the bottom of the lake, which is covered with a layer of ice that is between 4-5 meters thick. We spend so much of our time drilling that I thought you'd like to see what the process is like. You can read more about why we are interested in these microbial communities by reading other journal entries, especially the one titled "Our Big Question". For now, enjoy this short video!

Hi Lucy-Thanks so much for making and posting these videos- it's great to see daily life in Antarctica and really be able to picture how you all are spending your days!

Sasha- just got back from leading a wmc backpacking trip to desolation this weekend during which we woke up to ice inside our tent! I could've used one of your big red jackets :P I love you and miss you so, SO much. looking forward to opening your letters gets me through the weeks
