Talk about a crazy week in sports...in one week I went to the NCAA final four and the Tiger's season opener. I love going to tiger's games. There is something about baseball, hot dogs, and a sunny day that makes me think of summer. I live about ten minutes away from Comerica Park so we try to buy a ticket package every year and get to as many games as possible. Opening Day is one of the best games to go to and it is always a sellout (this year it had the 3rd highest attendance in park history). Even better, was that the weather was actually nice this year. I have been to several cold, rainy or snowy opening days and this year it was warm and sunny. Here are some pictures of some pregame fun.

Lets Go Tigers! My husband, Matt, and I outside the stadium waiting to get in. Yes, that is a REAL DogPeanut made her appearance driving around the stadium on opening day. Roar!A tiger painted on a building in downtown Detroit.

Once we got into the park, we found our seats, which were in the upper deck right behind home plate. Our season tickets are one section over and are great seats as well. I like to sit in the upper deck because I am short and I can see the entire field in the upper deck and I can't from the lower level.

Great SeatsOur tickets were right behind home plate and we could see the entire field.

There are a lot of special things that happen on opening day. Before the game they introduced the teams and did the national anthem. After the national anthem four F-16's flew over the field...it was so loud. This year's ceremonial pitch was from three auto workers representing each of the big three (Ford, GM, and Chrysler). It has been a tough year for auto workers and it was great that the tiger's organization honored the workers by having them throw out the first pitch. No first pitch is complete without a celebrity, however, so Kid Rock came out and gave the workers hugs and cheered them on while they pitched. Kid Rock also sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch.

Play Ball! The pregame line-ups and national anthem…now lets Play Ball!

I have been to several opening days where the tigers did not win, so this year was quite the treat. We showed a lot of offense and beat the Rangers 15-2. The highlight of the game was a grand slam by Miguel Cabrera. The stadium went crazy. It was a great opening of the season and since then the tigers have yet to lose a game. Let's go Tigers!
