Journal Entry

Whew! Home all clean, substitute all set with lesson plans, bags packed!

It's 2:30am and my husband and I are heading to JFK airport in New York City where he'll drop me off at Delta Airlines. I'll be catching a 7:45am flight to Seattle Washington and then another flight to Fairbanks Alaska! Why Fairbanks Alaska you might ask? I'm heading to join with other educators and researchers to join the PolarTREC orientation for this years upcoming research projects!

Preparing for and going for a week in Alaska, or for 3 weeks of an expedition takes a lot of planning. The final piece of planning before heading on your way is packing. This year I was determined to narrow down my clothing choices, with a goal of fitting everything into only 2 carry-on pieces of luggage. If I can it's quite an accomplishment as temperatures may be as low as -39 degrees Fahrenheit, and that's pretty cold, which means I'll need to wear lots of layers. Wondering how I did? Hi Alex, and no it seems I can't get enough of those whales. Sounds like you have your own awesome adventure back to the southern hemisphere! Very exciting. Really nice group of new teachers here at orientation, wish you were here! Hey I might need to pick your brain a bit in a week or to. I'll catch up with you on that later. Brrrr, just got home from the hot springs-nice way for a little down time after a very busy day.
Hope you liked the video!-talk with you soon.
