Journal Entry

UTEP AQUATIC ECOLOGY

For the past two weeks I started to get my researcher legs back... it's a good thing. Good practice for my upcoming trip! I have got to meet the researchers coming with me to Utqiagvik in July. In later journals I will be introducing the team and their respective projects.

I've relearned to use the YSI-multiprobe, which will be used to sample water from the ponds. Getting a refresher on bathymetry, carbon uptake, nutrient availability, and seeing some of the awesome things that UTEP is doing on the roof.

Dr. Lougheed & Aquatic Ecology students calibrating the YSI-multiprobe. YSI-multiprobe will collect pH, temperature, DO, and other parameters.

I learned how to use the Innova, a device that collects carbon and methane gas. I'll update on how all this technology works in the field.
