Journal Entry

I am packing in the land of the Packers. A whirlpool has taken hold of the whole state and everything revolves around tonight's big game. Most everybody is excited about the possibility of waking up to see the Packers champions of the Super Bowl. I am finding it hard to follow all that excitement as I try to pack all those things that I once wrote on my packing list and that now I am not sure I will need. Second guessing is not such a great idea, but I want to travel light. That is the challenge; travel light and bring all the necessities…

At the end I decide to join family and friends to watch the game instead of finish the packing. You can see in the picture where I stopped the packing process as I laid all the items in my packing list on the basement

The layout includes a couple of additions. One of them, my soccer jersey. The guys in the team requested that I take some pictures in Antarctica wearing the uniform. For the first time I am glad they had given me such a big jersey, I should be able to wear it on top of the parka!

We woke up on Monday to find the Packers Superbowl Champions and my unfinished packing. One of the teachers in my department could not believe that I was leaving the next day and had not packed. Another one was in disbelief that I had attended the faculty meeting at the end of the day instead of heading home and finish the bags. I barely finished them on Tuesday morning, just before leaving for the airport. Here is how my bags look for the trip. The brown back pack contains the computer and the camera equipment. The red one, almost empty, has my medicines, the neck pillow, some extra clothing for the flights, in case of delays, and the rain coat and down jacket. Even though I will get a parka in Christchurch, the jackets are needed because the temperatures when leaving Madison were in the lower teens.
