Every expedition could have a flag. It is not a requirement, but those old pictures sure look great when there is a flag. At least that is what I think. I sent a request on the miscellaneous e-mail account at the school district where all sorts of things are announced, sold, traded or sent around. I asked for someone with artistic skills capable of producing a simple flag for the expedition.

Judith, an art teacher in the high school, had her students design and print a flag. They produced many beautiful flags that, I am ashamed to say, did not fit on the the luggage. Since I had to leave them home at the last minute, I was unable to take pictures of them. I will add them here when I get back.

Kathy, a teacher at an elementary school in our district, offered to produce a flag. Little I know about Kathy's sowing skills and her artistic vision. She produced a flag of amazing quality! I plan to fly the flag on Antarctica. Here is the flag during one of our lunches

I wanted to take a picture with my students and the flag, and another one with Kathy. Since I got the flag on Monday before my departure, and could not even see Kathy that day, I could only take pictures with my two classes of that day (do not think I teach very few classes, we have an A, B block schedule at Monona Grove High School, with 95 minutes classes. I teach 2 on A days and 3 on B days, ).

I was not thinking I would add this note here, but my department's approach to my departure and their interest on the expedition seems so bizarre that I feel I need to share it with you. Here is the expedition topic that seemed to generate more curiosity among the teachers in the Science Department at Monona Grove High School. I have been requested to keep a tally for the purposes of this contest...
