Our transit is progressing well. We continue to steam south to our intended destination in East Antarctica. Apparently the seas are calm at this time. But not to this landlubber! If you can image walking around in a fun house where the floor is tilted you can get a little idea of what it's like on ship. The Chief Mate Brandon informs me of impending storm conditions and rougher seas.in the next few days but he has no worries." Just hang on to the railings" he responds.

I wanted to briefly discuss planning. In this case our eventual destination for research. As with any trip situations change and adjustments are made. In such a changing environment of Antarctica there are many factors to consider.

These conditions include ice, winds, and weather. These and others are constantly being monitored by the crew, scientists and their support staff. The technology on the ship is state of the art and the folks that operate it are the best at what they do.

This expedition has been painstakingly planned for years. And it looks good that we can reach our intended destinations. Once there the research will take place 24 hours a day. This will be an exciting time for all of us. In the meantime we continue our transit south with high hopes and good spirits.
