I'm removing the soil from plants to prepare them for pressing and resining.
I'm finishing up some lab work and packing to leave for Atqasuk tomorrow so things are very busy. I have to decide what to take. I'll be there for about ten days but I heard the weather is very different than in Barrow because it's sixty miles south of Barrow and it's inland. I've been told about these larger than life mosquitos that swarm people there. I think my team is exaggerating just a bit. But, then again, people who live on the North Slope talk about scientists becoming "blood donors sustaining the mosquito population in Atqasuk." I will definitely take all of my bug gear: shirt, hat, and pair of pants with impregnated with insect repellant, four types of mosquito repellant, a head net, a mosquito net jacket, and an Arctic mosquito anorak. I try a few "mix and match combos" and see how they work.
