Polar Scavenger Hunt
When was the last time you participated in a Scavenger Hunt? Has it been a long time? Maybe never?
I have fond childhood memories of participating in a number of scavengers hunts - where each team was given a list of 10 (or so) items to find and collect. Not only did you have to collect the list of items but be you rallied to be the first team to do so. We had so much fun!
The reason why I’m reminiscing about these childhood memories is because I recently participated in a high-tech version of this childhood game. It appears that Scavenger Hunts are a bit different now-a-days. There is still a similar list of items to collect, but this time we went with a digital camera in tow (we didn’t have these when I was a kid) to document our adventure.
Scavenger Hunt Team - Jim, Susan, Me and KurtSo, my team members and I were off - not only to collect items but to photograph team members next to Memphis landmarks or doing silly things. Our teams competitive juices started to flow and we vowed to be victorious.

Here is a picture of some of the items we had to collect. The old coke bottle was the most difficult to find. This gave me an idea. Since I had so much fun taking part in my scavenger hunts – I thought you would too! So, in preparation for my journey to the Antarctic, the Pink Palace Museum is planning a variety of unique, fun, educational and family friendly activities this summer – starting with our own Scavenger Hunt. There will be a number of challenges and opportunities for participants to earn ‘Polar Points’ from May through August, 2011 and win prizes.
