This month’s topic is twofold!
OK, truth be told – since there are so many great topics from which to choose, I couldn’t decide on just one. So, for this month’s challenge I selected both an animal and a science subject.
The selected animal is the WHALE and the science subjects are WEATHER, CLIMATE, or SEASONS.

READ a book
Create an ART project or
WRITE about the selected ‘topic of the month’
A bit more information…
WHALES - I would encourage you to focus on the whale species most commonly found in Antarctic waters – such as the Right, Blue, Sei, Humpback, Minke, Fin, Sperm and, of course, Killer whales.
WEATHER, CLIMATE, or SEASONS – Since these topics are broad – direct your focus towards Antarctic climate change, or Antarctic weather and seasons.

WAY TO GO – EVERYONE!!!
New point system for the Antarctic R.A.W. challenge
Several followers mentioned that they are reading books that are quite large and may take longer than one month to read. No Problem! In fact that is fantastic! So, as long as your book choice is one of the selected ‘topics of the month’ your points count!
Here’s the changes to the points system -
- 5 points for each ART or WRITING project your complete
- 5 points for each 20 pages you read (So, if you read a book that has 100 pages – You would get 25 points – Wow)
- 10 points if you send me a picture of you (or your class) with your project. For example - send me a picture of you reading a book, or with your completed art project or maybe reciting an Antarctic poem to your family or your class.
Remember, the more projects you do, the more points you'll receive!
