I saw my first penguins today!
They were even cuter than I could have imagined.
I was out on the Sea Ice with my instructor, Ned Corkran, learning how to survey for cracks in the ice that could pose hazards to riders and vehicles (more on this in another post!), and there they were! They just came walking up to us in a group.
It appears that they did the same thing we did... surveyed the crack in the Sea Ice, and determined the safety of crossing.
You can watch here to see what they decided...
I will apologize in advance for quality of the video. I had to make it very low resolution in order to share it from McMurdo. Also, it is blindingly white out on the Sea Ice, so I had a hard time seeing anything in my camera, and just aimed in the general direction of the action. When it feels like there is an earthquake, it's because I was giggling so much at the cuteness of the penguins.
Awww... <3.
