What equipment are you going to be using when your collecting the worms?

Hi!Great question. There's a lot of equipment involved in collecting the
worms.
First, to get to the worms, we first need to drill a hole in the ice.
When we drill our first hole, I'll be sure to put photos of the drill so
you can see it in action.
Second, we need to use dive gear to get to the bottom of McMurdo Sound.
The dive gear we use depends on where we're diving. Some dives we'll
be using SCUBA gear and other dives we'll be using surface supply. I'll
be sure to write journal entries about both types of diving.
Finally, to collect the worms we'll be scooping sediment in these
modified underwater buckets. Once we have the sediment (including the
worms, hopefully), we'll take them back to the lab where we'll use a
sieve to sort the worms out (sort of like panning for gold).
This is such a great question that it will take a few journal entries to
answer, so stay tuned as the expedition unfolds.
