Hello Mr. League!

We were wondering what sorts of food the jellyfish and worms eat in that cold of temperature? We noticed that there isn't a lot of dirt or shrubbery, so we're not sure what the food supply would be like.

Thanks! Sofie and Kyra

Sofie and Kyra,Great questions!
*Capitella*, the worms we're interested in, help breakdown dead stuff
and microscopic material in the sediment. Some other species of worms
feed on plankton floating in the water and still others feed on larger
dead material.
Jellyfish are constantly hunting while they're floating around. When
food (like microscopic animals or fish) touch their tentacles, they
become potential food items. Jellyfish have special stinging cells to
capture their prey.
Thanks for following!
