Hey Mike,

All the guys and gals from No Gills Dive Club wanna no about the gear you need to survive in the waters down there.

Kevin, Good to hear from you! That's a great question. We do use a lot of
gear that has been tested to withstand the icy waters of McMurdo Sound.
We'll likely be doing two types of diving this season: SCUBA and
surface supply. In both cases, I'll be starting with a layer of thermal
underwear and a fleece layer. Over the top of that I'll be wearing my
dry suit underwear, made by a company named Andy's Undies. Over the top
of that will be my Viking dry suit, Henderson Gold Core hood, and a
ringed-glove system.
When we're SCUBA diving, we use redundant Sherwood regulators. I'll
be profiling a lot more about the dive gear once diving operations
begin, so stay tuned! If some folks from your dive club would like to
chat, we should set up a PolarConnect event to discuss diving operations
with the diving team. Just email me at mleague@polartrec.com.
