hello

My name is Alessandro from St.mark school and i have a question about underwater valcaneos.The fish near the valcaneos are they different or bizzar do the fish have 8 set of rows like the cartoons.

Alessandro,Great question! While not part of this project, Drs. Marsh, Kim, and
Mike have seen and study underwater volcanoes in other parts of the
world. The animals that live there are very different from animals in
the shallow, relatively warm water close to our shores.
Some cartoons do have it right. There are fish that can produce light.
There are some fish that have lures coming off the top of their head
to attract other fish. All of these animals must survive under
incredible pressure from all the water above them and extreme
temperature differences.
I wouldn't say the cartoons have everything right though. So don't
always believe everything you see. Also, the animals that live that
these underwater volcanoes can only survive there. They have adapted to
life in the extremes.
