Mike -

Does Steve usually clear the snow prior to drilling a hole for a dive site? Why did you decide to do it this time? If you don't clear the snow, will the water just soak down into the snow and not cause a problem, so then you can place the dive hut right away without it freezing to the sea ice?

If it is possible I think it would be interesting to view a video from the next hole that you drill to see the difference without the snow being cleared.
Thanks!! ~Alli :)

Hey Alli,Good suggestions. Yes, with the snow in place we don't get the same
flooding effect. The water is several fee below the snow surface and
just soaks into the snow. Then, it freezes. We can then place the dive
hut immediately. We drilled a second hole today and that was in fact
the case. I'll take a video of the third hole that we drill and we can
compare it to the first hole.
Thanks for the great ideas. It's nice to see that you're thinking.
Keep those great ideas coming!
