I like the pitchures of the Greenland mountains!!-Mcclelland

Tim Spuck

They are an amazing! Mountains pretty much surround the Greenland Ice Sheet. This is something that makes Greenland different than Antarctica. Since mountains surround Greenland the only way for for the ice to get out is through the mountain valleys. So the massive Greenland Ice Sheet (nearly 2 miles thick) is trapped. However the lack of mountains in Antarctica is more concerning to scientists. Because there are no mountains to hold back the ice, scientists are concerned that massive chunks of the Antarctic Ice Sheet could break off and move into the ocean where they will melt quickly and cause a rapid rise in sea level. Thanks, Tim
