Why is the ice melting so rapidly? How will this have an affect on the surrounding environment?

Ice melts faster when the air temperature rises, so as the average global temp increases, ice will melt faster. We are still trying to understand the impact that will have on the environment. If more ice melts and then that will mean more water in the ocean, and when that happens sea level will increase flooding more of the coastal communities.Thanks for your questions, Tim
