Antarctic Ice Sheet Studies

So i was wondering if you will be out in the ice for along time what would be the max temp of the days you are out there i dont think it will be higher than 20 but probly lower than zero well accualy yeah it will be lower than zero but yeah how hot and cold will it be?

Right now temps are running into the low to mid 20s. Since the sun is up 24 hours a day, there is a little bit of melt water when certain areas are in the sun, but then 12 hours later when the sun is in the opposite direction, other parts melt, and the melted parts refreeze. Kind of weird. Once we leave for the field, we'll travel about 1,000 miles from McMurdo and the temperatures will drop, but not significantly. Highs at the field camp yesterday were in the low teens.Cheers,~Gillette
