Right now McMurdo is running very near capacity with just under 1,200 people here. Some of these are folks that hang around for the summer season and work here at the station as support staff, others are more like our team that use McMurdo as a stopping off point before heading to the field to do their research. The winter over crew here drops down to around 200, those people necessary to keep the station up and running until the next field season can begin.Cheers,~Gillette
