Hey Mr.Gillette! What is the temperature out there? What kind of animals have you seen? Bye.

Sorry to disappoint Lindsay, but no animals yet.  This time of year they are hanging more around the sea ice, which hasn't made its way this far into the sound yet.  It may take a few more weeks.  Our other option is to go visit them, but outside flights are quite booked and there isn't any free fly time for that type of recreation.  As for temps, we slept outside last night at it was -8 C.  I'll let you figure out what that is in F.Cheers,~Gillette

Ellie Courtney…

Dear Mr. Gillette ,Hey it is your favorite student Ellie and her group. What is the time difference? Have you seen any penguins (Dylan). What kind of animals have you seen. We want to know where you are going to go to the bathroom when you are sleeping in a tent on the ice. What is your favorite part of Antarctica?

Still no animals, and there are plenty of pictures from our crevasse training.  I posted a journal entry on the topic, make sure you read it and look in the photo gallery for pictures.  I've only gone in one on purpose.~Gillette
